In partnership with transport company Allogic and charging infrastructure provider Greenspace E-Mobility, logistics firm DSV is set to deploy ten battery-electric Windrose heavy-duty trucks on the I-35 freight corridor. This marks the first commercial fleet deployment on Greenspace's planned 'Electric Highway' network linking the US and Mexico.

The initial fleet of Windrose E700 Class 8 electric trucks will provide freight operations on one of North America’s busiest shipping routes – connecting Dallas, San Antonio, and Laredo before continuing to Monterrey in northern Mexico. Greenspace E-Mobility is set to provide charging infrastructure, while Allogic will operate the vehicles on behalf of DSV.

This deployment is linked to Greenspace’s wider ambition to establish an ‘Electric Highway’ network between the US and Mexico, starting with four Texas-based ‘Green Hubs’ which are set to open by Q4 of 2026. These sites will feature high-powered charging ranging from 400kW to Megawatt capability, and integrate on-site solar and battery storage. Once opened, they will form the first phase of the Electric Highway project.

According to a press release from Windrose, the current-gen E700 offers over 400 miles (644km) of operational range – a spec it says will enable the Dallas-Laredo route to be completed with a brief charging stop in San Antonio. The company added that its next-gen E811 platform, which is currently under development, should exceed 500 miles (805km) of range – enabling the route to be completed without the need for recharging.

A second phase of the ‘Electric Highway’ is planned for 2027, which will see the charging network extend into Monterrey and the Colombia-Nuevo León border crossing. This will include six new Green Hubs as well as the deployment of 25 additional Windrose electric trucks – forming what the partners describe as the first fully electric cross-border freight corridor between the US and Mexico.

On its website, a statement by Windrose reads: “The I-35 corridor through Laredo processes more than 20,000 trucks daily, representing one of the highest-volume logistics corridors in the Western Hemisphere. This deployment marks a significant step toward the electrification of cross-border freight transportation between the United States and Mexico.”
