A few weeks ago, Sany began marketing its e263 electric semi-tractor in Europe. But this is just the beginning: at IAA Transportation, Sany is bringing four derivatives and models - including three- and four-axle versions. We present the electric trucks along with their technical specifications.
Sany will set up its exhibition stand at IAA Transportation in Hanover in Hall 12, Stand C40, where it will present four vehicles at the request of electrive – all of them fully electric and designed for the construction industry, logistics, and municipal applications. Already known is the e263 tractor unit, with its 420 kW continuous power, 636 kWh LFP battery (623 kWh net), and a stated range of over 500 kilometres. The first units of Sany’s electric tractor are already on German roads. Further derivatives and models are expected to follow soon, namely the e435 8×4, the e345/e360 6×2, and the e363 6×2. Regarding the nomenclature: at Sany, the first digit always indicates the number of axles, while the next two digits represent the gross battery capacity. In the case of the e263, this means a two-axle vehicle with approximately 630 kWh of energy capacity.
But first, some context: Sany is one of several Chinese manufacturers aiming to establish themselves in the European electric truck market. Around a year ago, the group announced its plans to expand into Europe with its e-trucks under the Sany eTrucks division. For the e263, deliveries have already begun. “The first vehicles have been operating on German roads since spring 2026,” reported Kevin Eichele, Head of Product and Business Development at Sany eTrucks Europe, in response to an electrive inquiry this summer. Initial target markets include the DACH region and Spain.
Sany is no stranger to these latitudes: the Chinese manufacturer is already active in Europe, primarily with construction machinery and vehicles, including electric models such as the chassis 8×4 408P and e435. In China, the group is the country’s largest manufacturer of heavy machinery. Since Sany acquired the German concrete pump specialist Putzmeister in 2012, Germany has become a key hub for the company in Europe. Sany operates sites in Bedburg and Aichtal.
Chinese vehicles adapted by Putzmeister
With the Sany eTrucks division, the manufacturer now aims to expand into the electric truck market. The unit carries the suffix “supported by Putzmeister,” indicating its European focus. Putzmeister is responsible for adapting the vehicles to local conditions, customer support, and service infrastructure across Europe for its parent company, Sany. To support the introduction of new e-trucks, Sany has also partnered with Alltrucks, a multi-brand workshop specialist. Alltrucks will handle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs for Sany’s e-trucks in Europe. At the IAA, Sany mentions 650 Alltrucks service workshops available across Europe.
In the spotlight of the exhibition halls, Sany will officially introduce its European eTruck brand and immediately draw attention with additional BEV chassis models. Kevin Eichele explains: “The transition to electric heavy-duty transport will only succeed if customers see more than just a vehicle. They need confidence in product maturity, availability, service, and total cost of ownership.” The Putzmeister organisation forms the backbone of Sany’s research, development, sales, and service network, covering IT processes, spare parts, and process support. Above all, according to Eichele, Putzmeister brings “a strong European presence, local language skills, and knowledge of country-specific regulations to every market Sany enters.”
E-Chassis for long-gaul transport and construction sites
Sany eTruck’s core portfolio in Europe will initially be based on four models: The e263 4x2S is the already introduced tractor unit, while the e263 4x2R is a chassis variant that uses the same technical modular system and additionally offers trailer coupling. The R version is significantly longer at 9.5 metres compared to the tractor unit (6.64 m), with the wheelbase increasing by 1.30 metres to 5.30 metres. The kerb weight of the chassis is slightly lower at 10.6 tonnes. The e263 4x2R is rated for a gross combination weight of 38 tonnes – compared to 42 tonnes for the e263 4x2S. The overview shows: The e363 6×2 is Sany’s chassis alternative for heavier loads. This three-axle model also uses the technical modular system of the 4×2 models but can support a higher rear axle load. The datasheet indicates a technically permissible load of 19 tonnes here – compared to 13 tonnes for the two-axle models. Sany describes this version as a “chassis with longhaul-logistic focus, targeting 42-tonne GCWR applications like swap box bodies with a 636-kilowatt-hour battery capacity and 400-kilowatt fast charging.”
A different drivetrain is used in Sany’s e345/e360 6×2 chassis. The datasheet mentions a permanent magnet synchronous motor with oil cooling in an eAxle system. The continuous power is rated at 210 kW – half of the dual-motor solution. Sany positions these chassis as a 28-tonne platform for the construction industry, available in three wheelbase variants, with a total length of up to 10.4 metres and an LFP battery capacity of 450 kWh and 600 kWh. CATL batteries are also used here.
The final model is the e435 8×4, which, unlike the other e-trucks, is not making its first appearance in Germany. Sany already showcased the four-axle vehicle at Bauma in 2025 in Munich (link in German). The specifications have remained unchanged since then: the e435 delivers 270 kW and offers a battery capacity of 350 kWh. It provides versatile bodywork options such as loader cranes with flatbeds or hooklift tippers with bins, offering numerous applications, particularly in the construction industry. Depending on the configuration, the permissible gross weight is up to 37 tonnes. At the IAA, Sany is marketing the model as a BEV chassis specifically for concrete and construction work.
In other words: the latter two chassis models highlight Sany’s roots in the construction industry. For long-distance transport – a new business area for Sany in Europe – the company will soon have three different truck types in its portfolio, all sharing the same technical modular system with a dual e-axle and 636 kWh battery. No details have yet been announced regarding the order and delivery start dates for the newly presented models.
Sany Trucks to be offered at “affordable prices”
Ahead of the trade fair, Sany emphasises that “together, the five models give SANY a focused European portfolio”, with each model meeting a specific application requirement. Sany also indicates that its range will be “affordable”, without providing further details.
While Sany eTrucks is just beginning to enter Europe and other international markets, the manufacturer is already well-established in its home market of China for electric long-haul trucks. Sany states that it has already deployed more than 50,000 e-trucks domestically and is driving expansion as an established manufacturer with a strong industrial base. Unlike some Chinese startups that are also looking to expand into Europe with e-trucks and rely on contract manufacturers, Sany intends to build its vehicles in China. For example, the e263 is manufactured in Changsha, China, where Sany established an entirely new factory on a greenfield site in 2019. The vehicles are then shipped to Europe and undergo market-specific adaptations by Putzmeister.
